‘ Love Heart Hand Embroidery for Valentine’s day ‘ design is originally designed based on the requests I received on my YouTube channel. So I hope this will be helpful to whoever in need of creating something creative for their loved ones as a gift.
We simply put our hearts into our handmade projects and that is what make them so special and unique. I know you all will agree with me that handmades are always made with LOVE !!!
I stitched this design in February 2021 for valentine’s day. But could not create a post here in my blog. So here I am today sharing the details with you all. you can save this idea as a future reference for next Valentine’s day or you can make something now !! Who cares about days when it comes to our loved ones right? 😀
Well.. Let’s get into the topic now!! As you can see, this design itself is very simple and you will be able to finish it quickly.
Getting ready with supplies
you will need below supplies for this embroidery project.
- Fabric of your choice – Here I have used Linen. Tip – Cotton blends are easy to handle.
- Embroidery hoops
- Embroidery needle – Here I have used DMC size 3 embroidery needle
- Embroidery thread – colors of your choice
- scissors
- A marking tool to trace the pattern onto fabric – A water soluble marker is highly recommended.
Get all these supplies ready and trace the design onto the fabric using a marking tool. If you are good at drawing you can directly draw the pattern onto fabric.
Taut the fabric in between the embroidery hoops. Lock them properly when the fabric is taut enough and you are all set for stitching !!!
Stitching the leaves
I used a centered satin stitch filling for the leaves. I felt that satin stitch is ideal to stitch these chubby leaves with a belly.
Stitching the border lines of the heart
The border lines of the heart were easily completed with running stitch. If you like you can use back stitch, back split stitch or stem stitch for this. But I really loved the simple look the running stitch gave out.
Stitching the roses
I always love stitching roses using various stitches. This time I used stem stitch to fill in my roses. I really love the final texture in them.
Here are a few tips for stitching the stem stitch rose:
- Do not pull the thread too tight. Always be gentle when pulling the thread.
- Increase the stem stitch size as you stitch the rose. You can refer the tutorial video for more details.
Stitching the letters aka monogramming
For the monogramming I initially tried Stem stitch. But I was not that happy about the outcome. So I did a quick un-picking. You know a lot of unpicking is very common in behind the scenes of a project. And then I restarted stitching with back stitch. And Wow !! Those tiny back stitches gave the exact texture I wanted for the word LOVE !!
I hope that this will be a great gift idea for your loved one. You know that something made with love is always unique and priceless and it will make your loved one feel so loved. So enjoy the hand embroidery tutorial and happy stitching !!!
